Cuddle Monsters

Don’t ask me why I did it - I have no clue: Cuddle Monsters

Feel free to speculate on what building that website says about my mental health.

  1. Man What????? You need some help…. fun website though…

  2. I don’t get how some of the people can vote what they did, but you need to add Dire Penguins to the list. Nothin’ cuddlier than a Dire Penguin!!!

  3. Or, how bout a baby Dire Penguin?

  4. Okay… I have to ask.
Are either of you Linux users??
Because you started talking about Dire Penguins and I thought of this image!

I know it is bad.. but what can I say… wicked minds and only half a cup of coffee. But hey… I can not say much as I created for my world, Banshee Bunnies found only in Ravenloft (for now). I got a few groans from my players on that one. I may have to update them for 3.5.

  5. Nice work, wish I had thought of it!!! I like the tally after each vote, I missed them at first. Thanks for a great website also,

    Whisper

  6. Wholly addictive.

I too missed the tallies initially but then it made it even more fun to see how on the money or deviant I was.

Now with the correct counterbalancing of presentation, one could test a number of cuddleworthiness hypotheses. Several I noticed already…Sirens always cuddly. Humanoid more cuddly over non humanoid. Fur wins over scales or chitin. And of course 2 eyes over multi-eyed. Definitely demonstrating our humanocentric mammalian biases. Sorry it’s the psychologist in me.

  7. I’ll add new monsters whenever I have 5 minutes to kill. I’m glad you enjoyed the addictiveness. I have to move the tallies up too so everyone sees them.

Thanks for the feedback and for taking it easy on the Freudian explanations.

  8. I added the Dire Penguin.

One thing I didn’t consider when I built the cuddle monsters website is that I would spend an inordinate amount on it. I get sucked in whenever I run some test on it.

  9. “50% agree that Yak Folk are cuddlier than Yak Folk”

Duplicates are a problem, but congratulations on creating another big time sink for me :)

  10. Thanks Dave! I’ll look at duplicates - I thought I had it tackled but obviously I’m not as good a programmer as I think I am.

  11. I think it could use some leaderboards, so we can see the most and least cuddly monsters!

I think my favorite part was the little comic of the cuddly Beholder up top…

  12. Yeah. I took the cuddly beholder from YAFGC. I’m in the process of getting rights to that image since I like YAFCG and would like them to cash in on their art.

  17. Okay, that was EVIL! Yax, thanks to you I spent my entire day reading YAFGC… It was so underhanded I never saw it coming. I read from comic 1, the first 1, that was at 11am this morning. Its now 6:30, this is the first break I’ve taken!!!! I’m still not done.

    I will get you back…somehow /shakes fist in anger/

  18. Er… You’re welcome?

  19. [...] of Dungeon Mastering fame produced the first application which validates the insipid “Web 2.0″ [...]

  20. I can’t help reading that one monster as Yax folk…

(The Yak folk, unless it is obvious.)
