D&D Monday morning speedlinking
DNDMMSL 10-08-07
I skipped a week of DNDMMSL in favor of the revolutionary “What is you inner D&D character?” survey, but this week I have enough stuff for you to waste an entire day at work – definitely enough stuff to keep you busy until coffee kicks in.
My Monday morning routine
To kickstart the week I thought I’d give you a glimpse of my own Monday morning routine. It’s a way for me to say thanks to all the people who keep me informed and entertained.
1 – I usually start my day with breakfast, Treasure Tables, Stupid Ranger, Evil DM, and Roleplaying Tips’ newsletter. Here are a few recent articles I enjoyed on their sites:
- Great campaigns: 1 out of 3 ain’t bad by Treasure Tables. My personal average of great campaigns is probably right around there. So many of them fizzled away because of scheduling conflicts. I miss college.
- Improvising NPCs and magic tattoos by Stupid Ranger. Improvisation is my best friend because it saves me time and the disappointment of not using stuff I spent hours preparing.
- Between car crashes and keeping “She who must be obeyed” happy, the Evil DM does a great job of keeping me entertained. I’m going to try Broadsword pretty soon. They claim it can be played with a beer and a head wound. It has to be good.
- Last but not least, Roleplaying Tips’ newsletter rocks on a weekly basis. Recently I really enjoyed this article on Putting fear back into the disease.
2 – My RPG reads are quickly followed by my sports read – which I won’t share here, but let’s just say I’m happy that hockey is finally back.
3 – Then comes the assessment of my willingness to head to work. I usually don’t feel like heading to work right away so I’ll kill an extra 30 minutes perusing websites like
- Critical Hits
- Musing of the -very- chatty DM
- I waste the buddha with my crossbow
- The Gnome’s Lair
- Or webcomics like Geeks Next Door.
4 – If I still don’t feel like working after that I’ll write something for this website.
5 – Off to work – which is always fun once I get there. But leaving home is still pretty hard so sometimes I don’t leave at all and work from the kitchen table.
That’s it for me. Have fun at work!
