The Best Feats for the Ultimate Druid Build in 5e D&D

Traditionally, Druids are passive people. They are the keepers of balance and the protectors of nature. However, there comes a time when even the most peaceful among us will need to take up arms and fight. For Druids who choose the life of the adventurer, this has never been truer.

In order to remain as useful in battle as possible, you will need to pick Feats for your class. There are so many to choose from, and to list every Feat in DnD 5e would be, well, a feat in itself. Here, we have gathered the very best Druid Feats that will help you build a character you can be proud of. Let’s dive in.

How to Choose Your Druid Feats

The process of choosing Feats can seem a little daunting, especially when they aren’t a crucial aspect of the Druid build. While this might be the case, that doesn’t mean that Feats can’t lend your class a lot of power and enhance your build.

Your choices will be partially influenced by your chosen Circle, you will want to select Feats that complement it and work well with the abilities you gain as a result of choosing them. For example, a Moon Druid might want to stick to mobility and communication whereas a Wildfire Druid will be thinking from an elemental perspective.

Furthermore, the Druid relies heavily on Wisdom because this is the stat they need to ensure they are able to cast spells. So, the Feats that suit Druids will tend to have a strong focus on this stat above all others. However, Druids also benefit from Constitution and Dexterity in order to strengthen their build and make it less squishy.

Over the course of your campaign, you will be increasing your Wisdom score until it eventually hits 20. This will leave you space for two or three Feats, and while you can take a fourth, it’s only necessary if you want to boost your Wisdom further. No, it’s not a lot of space, but Druids aren’t reliant on Feats so you’ll find it works well.

12 Best Druid Feats

There are loads of good Druid Feats, but what you want is the best. Whether you are building a Moon Druid or a Land Druid, there are Feats here that will help you to strengthen your build and end up with unstoppable results.

While there are some Feats that are reliant on race, the ones in our list can be used by an Elf Druid, a Halfling Druid, or whatever you’ve chosen to play as. This allows for more versatility in your choices and gives way to a myriad of astonishing builds.

#1 Metamagic Adept

If you are more magically inclined and have chosen a Circle that is heavy on the spellcasting side of things, this Feat will come in useful. You get to move a spell from an Action to a Bonus Action, you can make Thunderstorm last for 2 minutes, and there is the option to keep Barkskin on for 2 hours.

There are other effects such as Twinned and Distant which prove very useful for Druids who are seeking to provide additional buffs or the ability to handle more targets. If you’re going to be focused on getting spells out quickly, this is your Feat.

#2 War Caster

Whether you’re a Circle of Spores Druid who has chosen the melee life, or you’ve been dragged into the center of the battlefield against your will, this Feat has the power to save your life. An Advantage of your Constitution Save for Concentration has the ability to keep Barkskin alive for much longer.

You won’t need to put your weapon and shield down in order to cast, and your Opportunity Attack can be Hold Person which is exceptionally powerful and only adds to your arsenal. It’s definitely one to strongly consider for close combat.

#3 Observant

The ability to read lips is a little situational, but when it’s needed it really does come in very handy. You also get a +1 to Wisdom, which every Druid needs. However, the best part of this Feat is that you get a +5 to Perception, giving you Passive Perception that can help you to detect traps and stop your party from being ambushed.

#4 Healer

If you’re not part of a Circle that has proficiency in healing magic, this can be a really useful Feat to take on. It’s especially true if you have a very squishy party or a lot of you are new to the game and take on more damage than expected. While a lot of the appeal comes from an RP perspective, it does give a nice boost to the party.

#5 Chef

This Feat is often one that is used for fun, but it can have practical applications for a Druid. You get a +1 to Wisdom or Constitution, both valuable stats for a Druid, and the cooking utensils can make for some Tangled-Esque fun from an RP perspective.

However, there are two traits that make this Feat especially interesting. You can give d8 healing to your allies during a short rest, equalling 4 HP per person per short rest. There are also the treats that you make, which can give up to 6 people health for a total of 6 times per 1-hour of work.

#6 Elemental Adept

Circle of Wildfire Druids will have a field day with this Feat, and it offers the most advantages to them as a result. It is a brilliant choice for spellcasters who focus on casting spells that deal the same type of damage (fire, for example), and you get the chance to choose from a selection of elements when you pick this Feat.

The reason it works so well with the Circle of Wildfire is that this subclass has access to some exclusive fire spells that pair very nicely with this Feat. When you cast spells of your chosen damage type, they will ignore any resistance to it that an enemy might have. So, using fire magic against a fire-resistant creature is no problem.

#7 Fey Touched

This Feat gives you a +1 to Wisdom while also giving you access to the Druid equivalent of Misty Step. It increases your movement speed, teleports you, and you are able to cast it for free which is a huge bonus. It can get you to difficult places as well as help you escape sticky situations, making it a highly valuable addition.

#8 Telepathic

Moon Druids will get the most out of this Feat because they spend so much time in Wild Shape – a form that doesn’t allow them to communicate with their party. With this Feat, they gain the ability to speak telepathically with creatures that are within 60 feet of them, which means party communication can get back on track.

#9 Mobile

Another one for the Moon Druids; it feeds off the subclass and helps to enhance its already very useful features. It improves movement speed by 10, and this has an impact on the animal forms that a Moon Druid takes when in Wild Shape.

For example, if you Wild Shape into a wolf, you will gain 50 feet of movement speed on your turn. If you decide to use Dash in that same turn, you get 100 feet of movement speed in a single turn which is, honestly, very impressive.

#10 Alert

This is a fantastic Feat because it gives you a +5 to Initiative which can be massively advantageous during encounters. Very little is able to surprise you, and you will usually go first in battle which means you have the chance to use Wild Shape or Stellar Shape immediately so that you’re ready for action.

Being able to be the first one to strike gives your whole party an advantage, but there’s something else. Once you hit 20 Wisdom and you have this Feat, there will be no such thing as going last again. Every battle becomes yours to begin.

#11 Resilient

While Druids have great Saving Throws, using this Feat on Constitution only goes to strengthen your build and your class. A +1 to Constitution and Proficiency on Saves that require it means that you get an increased survivability rate. Considering Druids are squishy, like most spellcasters, this is a huge bonus.

It is a purely defensive option, and it’s the kind of Feat that won’t always be useful and might be left in the background a lot of the time. However, when it’s needed and comes in handy you’ll be very glad that you chose it.

#12 Polearm Master

This is such an underrated Feat, and while Druids don’t traditionally fight in close quarters there are some Circles that do. This primarily refers to the Circle of Spores, which has some really interesting quirks that make it a melee-friendly option and so benefits from the Polearm Master Feat.

When combined with the Shillelagh Cantrip, this Feat allows for a unique wisdom-focused physical offense option that still has access to the spells one would expect from the peaceful Druid. It’s a great way to use magic to shift your Strength stat while using the Feat to further enhance its power.

Other Feats to Consider

While the Feats listed above are my top recommendations for playing Druid (keeping some Circle-specific ones in mind as well) there are a few that deserve honorable mentions. These Feats are great options, and while they aren’t quite as good as the ones above they might work well with your chosen build.

  • Lucky: We all need a little luck, and being able to improve the result of your rolls can provide very beneficial in a whole host of situations.
  • Charger: One for the Moon Druids, this allows you to use forms like Brown Bear to charge forward and shove a target back by 10 feet. It keeps attacking as a Bonus Action and gives you the opportunity to throw enemies off a cliff.
  • Infernal Constitution: This is only available if you are a Tiefling but it gives you valuable damage resistance while also boosting your Constitution. It gives you cold and poison resistance as well, which can work nicely thematically and from an RP perspective.
