How to build a world the GeekDad way
Wired’s GeekDad is writing a series on world-building
The third installment of the series is a screencast on how to use a wiki – in this case, Obsidian Portal Campaign wiki. Check it out:

That video was actually a really good intro to the obsidian portal website. I didn’t get how to use it when I first visited the site, but the video really illustrates the potential of using a wiki to help organize your DM notes.
After I saw that video I went back to the site, started a campaign and spent two nights in a row copying my notes to the site, using the separate public viewable block for things I’ve told the player’s and Secret GM info block for my notes on upcoming hooks, locations, monsters, and villains. I’ve noticed that they are always updating the site with new features too which is always a plus!
Great video, with some great info. I am currently using Yahoo groups for the same thing, but I do not have the ability to put the kind of info that obsidian portal would give me. I will go and try it out.
