D&D Sunday morning quiz: Magic!

Written by Expy - Published on February 23, 2008

DNDSMQ 02-24-08

All that talk about dragons flying magically (here and here) got me thinking about spells! This quiz might be tougher on all the fighter types out there.

NOTE: Some e-mail clients aren’t able to submit your quiz answers to the website. If you’re reading this from an e-mail subscription you should head to Dungeon Mastering to take the quiz.

How would you like the fake cross-bred spell Antipathy Field (Antimagic Field / Antipathy) to behave?

  • Everyone in a 10ft. radius is pissed off by the caster
  • Everyone in a 10ft. radius dislikes everyone else in the area of effect.
  • Everyone in a 10ft. radius feels an urge to go away

Meet Expy The Red Dragon

Expy is the mascot for DungeonMastering.com and the real mastermind behind Expy Games. He likes to hoard treasure, terrorize neighbors, burn down villages, and tell white dragon jokes..

No matter how fearful the legends claim dragons are, they always end up being defeated in 5 rounds by adventuring parties they encounter. That’s what dragons are – experience points for the heroes in your Dungeons & Dragon party. And this mascot is no different, hence the name Expy.

  2. Graham says:

    Hmm…

    Your score before profiling: 110 / 100
    Your psycholigical profiling modifier: -19
    YOUR SCORE: 91%

How is my score before the random modifier above 100%?

    Edit: Yay! Editing!

  3. Michael says:

    That was fun. 93%

I’m relieved. I haven’t played for so long, I was worried I would have forgotten everything.

I mispelled Air Walk (as one word) and thought mirror image was 1d4+3.

So, on the last quiz, I had over 100, plus a positive profiling modifier…and on this one I had exactly 100, plus a negative profiling modifier…is the modifier just random?

(Note to admin: “psychological” is spelled incorrectly in the results.)

  21. Adalore says:

    Your score before profiling: 95 / 100
    Your psycholigical profiling modifier: -11
    YOUR SCORE: 84%

Congratulations! You are quite knowledgeable! You should be a wizard, or at least a bard.

Feel free to share your score by leaving a comment below.

Hahaha, the only one that threw me off was mirror image.
Although I have no sticken clue whats with the “Psycholigical” profiling… >_>
is it with the last question with the How good is Dungeonmastering…
    Tell usss!!!!

    CHAIN LIGHTNING!!!!!

  22. Yax says:

The psychological profiling is a state-of-the-art semi-scientific way of changing quiz scores for no valid reasons. Do you like red dragons? Do you enjoy gnome-punting? It’s somehow all taken into account.

  23. argokirby says:

Haha, 68%. That’s almost passing! My players say the same thing about my DMing.

Side note, Yax, you should do an article on the proper way to write DMing or is it Dming, or is it DM-ing. You know, get the important stuff out there!

I edited just for fun… Also, you miss spelled typo!

  24. HolyYakker says:

112% Only thing I got wrong was the caster level for Implosion (never even HEARD of that spell) other than that, great job. :) (and the site liked me today +15).

  25. Brenton says:

    Your score before profiling: 110 / 100
    Your psycholigical profiling modifier: 22
    YOUR SCORE: 132%

Damn, that’s the first positive modifier I’ve gotten.

  26. nw_meyer says:

Just thought I’d point out that Implosion is not one creature/level, it’s one creature/round of concentration, up to four rounds, maxing out at 4 affected creatures (assuming they fail the save).

101%, the line of site thing got me.

  27. Roleplay says:

    These quizzes give me headaches.

  28. Yax says:

    @nw_meyer:
Yep, I indeed messed up implosion slightly. It’s still Awesome 9 though.

    @Roleplay:
    Thank you?

  29. kmullera says:

    Your score before profiling: 102 / 100
