DNDSMQ June 13, 2009 : D&D Sunday Morning Quiz – Throwbacks!

Today’s quiz is quite the classic throwback, forcing you to pull out those dusty old first and second editions. If you get lucky, you might find that you’ve actually got something quite valuable, but pay attention! These questions will really scour your brain (as in, the mindflayer way) for the most arcane knowledge in the D&D world, forcing you to cower to this quiz’s mindblowing difficulty! If you’ve got enough willpower left after this quiz is done with you, try getting a breath of fresh air… you’ll need it to recoup the energy you wasted in defense of what few functioning braincells you’ve got left.

This quiz is a throwback to the original 1st edition release, some supplements, and 2nd edition. Brush that dust off of them!

NOTE: Some email clients and RSS readers can’t submit your answers to our website. You can go to Dungeon Mastering to take the quiz.

I score 60% and got 47% after AI modifier. That AI has some passive agressive ways of telling me I suck

  2. Chadhulhu says:

81% plus +7 fro A.I.. 88% better than any time in school. had to shake ALOT of dust out of the head for that one.

  3. Tiorn says:

    81% +14… 95%
I’m sure someone will top that.

I started playing in 3.5 and I never bothered to look any of it up before. At least I never used google either so my stupidity is my own :)

  5. Steve Muchow says:

    Really old school questions
Which D&D module was released and recalled and released again?
What are all the different names Dragon Magazine has had over the years?

  6. Steve Muchow says:

    Oh, Yeah
    Your score: 101%

    Your A.I. modifier +2

  7. Jcoyne says:

    Your score: 71%
    Your A.I. modifier -13

Man, considering I only started playing with 4th edition a few months ago, i’m kind of shocked that I knew most of those…

  8. Steamlord says:

    Your score: 81%

    Your A.I. modifier +10

    Your A.I. modifier +5

    Old school.

  10. Sandrinnad says:

    71 -4 = 67%

sweet! didn’t think I remembered that much :)

  11. Ray says:

Not bad for an old fool that started playing D&D back in 1978 when I was 26 and in the Coast Guard.

  12. Nicholas says:

    Your score: 71%

    Your A.I. modifier +11

I’ll take it. Not too bad considering I wasn’t born for a bunch of this. I’m glad we’ve got an old schooler on the staff.

  13. JohnL says:

This really took me back to when I first started playing. My nephew was ten and my first player. We were just talking about the Barrier peaks the other day. JohnL

  14. dar says:

    I got a perfect score!

But I do really get out more than that.

  15. Vinicius Zóio says:

    Your score: 101%

    Your A.I. modifier -9

Hah! Not bad for someone who never played the 1st or 2nd editions huh?

    Historical RPG lessons anyone? ;)

P.S: Why the hell is my A.I modifier -9 ¬¬. I hate the A.I! Blasted Cylon lovers! ¬¬.

  16. KT says:

    Your score: 91%

    Your A.I. modifier +1

  17. Syrsuro says:

101%. Just where does that extra 1% come from anyway?

But I must admit – I only knew where ToEE was located because of experience in Living Greyhawk/ D&D3.5. But most of the other questions I knew because I’m old and I’ve been doing this for awhile….

  18. A.I. says:

@Vinicius Zóio: You say “Why the hell is my A.I modifier -9 ¬¬. I hate the A.I! Blasted Cylon lovers! ” and I say “that’s the kind of attitude that gets you -9 modifier. And yes, I love Cylons.” :P

  19. Scott says:

With my +8 AI Modifier I got 49%. But then, I didn’t really get into D&D until the Advanced editions..

  20. Eric Martindale says:

@Vinicius Zóio: You’d better be careful, I think the A.I. has locked on to you…

It’s always good to do a quick time warp and go back to remember the how we got to today’s versions of D&D. I’m glad everyone enjoyed this one!

Although, I must say – I’m surprised everyone has been scoring so well… that just means I’ll have to make the next quiz twice as diabolical. }=]

  21. Just because you bugged me about this over AIM.

    61 -5 = 56%

Not bad for a 3.5 gamer. Like I told you, my uncle knows a lot about this stuff. ;)

  22. 81% +12 for AI mod for a 93%

Heh! Being old for the win! :D

  23. Quixote says:

Blasted Verbobonc! Curse you! Well, I guess getting this high a score sans manuals shows what a nerd I am.

  24. Thrandil says:

    Your score: 61%

    Your A.I. modifier +13

Not bad considering I started play at 3rd edition and never did any background research into AoI.

  25. Rakko Wakke says:
