D&D 4th edition report - RED DRAGONS!
Posted by Yax on March 14, 2008
The ever vigilant Critical Hits crew cornered a few WOTC employees to ask an important question - what do you think of red dragons?
Sara Girard, Associate D&D Brand Manager:
Rob Heinsoo, D&D mechanical design lead:
I had a soccer team named Red Dragons, and it was the only soccer team I’ve been in where I’ve been seriously injured… in my first game! Now I don’t name my teams after dragons anymore.
Scott Rouse, Lead D&D Brand Manager:
Wow, I’m totally rolling a 1 on this question. A red dragon ate my lunch and took my stuff.
Andy Collins, D&D Mechanical Design and Development Manager:
HOT! They ARE D&D. More symbolic than anything else, right up there with Mind Flayers and Beholders. I even ended my Eberron campaign by having them fight the Colossal Red Dragon mini, which was 10 levels higher than their level.

Well, the 4th one is the way to do it!! Right,Yax?
hah! Andy Collins had it right, Red Dragons are basically the simply of D&D. Hell, they are half the title :) Who doesn’t think of a red dragon when they hear the world dragon?
So it looks like someone is contributing heavily to Andy Collins’ Hedge Wizard fund. He might as well have said “Expy is the best and we should all read Yax’s blog Dungeon Mastering.”
I’m trying to imagine Sarah Girard’s response. Did she actually say “no comment” or was she using the restroom and Critical Hits asked this question and she just politely tried to ignore them?
That’s funny. I’m really looking forward to meeting tv CH guys at GenCon.
And I did not bribe anyone. I swear.

Sara was present when we asked, and was kidding (since some of the other questions we had asked were about rules that she couldn’t talk about)
