Quick Hit
Maikl from RPG thoughts probed a lot of gaming/RPG bloggers for their thoughts on 4th edition. Everyone gave him a three-sentences long answer. It makes for a concise and helpful roundup of the new edition of the game.
Check it out: Bloggers’ Opinion On Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition

This post couldn’t have come at a better time. I’m after opinions and insights for a new coding project, and this is exactly what I needed. Right now I’m working on a device that D&D players and DMs may find indispensable, or at least funny. It’ll take questions from the user about 3rd edition D&D and output any changes they can expect for 4th edition.
Naturally, because it’s on Slack ‘n’ Hash, answers may be a little deceptive, a bit quirky, or even damn lies. Just a bit of fun, really.
Here’s where everyone else comes in as well, actually. If any of you have any questions about changing edition, any niggles with the 4th edition, or any cherished opinions about the sacred cows of 3rd edition, I’d be very grateful if you emailed me at slacknhash@googlemail.com. To get past the spam filter, put the word [CONVERTOMATIC] in the message title. Anything you send in will help ensure the Convert-o-Matic has a vast bank of knowledge from which it can draw, and that its advice, though as erroneous as it gets, will at least be specifically, authoritatively and expertly erroneous!
Sorry for neglecting your blog. I shall try to put that right in the coming weeks.
Sweet!
I’m a big fan of Slack n Hash. Go Phil!
Thanks. You did mention a while back that you’d like me to design a gadget of some sort for dungeonmastering.com. I did email you about that, but it must have got lost or something. Have you had any more thoughts on that front?
Me? Losing emails? Ah crap. Happens all the time - I file the email in folder “to make sure I don’t forget about it” and then I never check the folder again. I need a better system, especially since running the website is very parttime.
Uh, anyhow, I’ll get back to you on that one eventually.
Great compilation. I started playing D&D in 1978 and I got the 4th edition to get my kids into it. We’re having a blast so far.
I’m both impressed and depressed by 4E. I love the ease of use, I hate the shoe horned characters though. Its great for my kids and thyee do love it, but my creative side is so inhibitated now and where are my monks dammit. I can live without gnomes, I can live without druids, but by all that righteous and holy, I must and will have my monks. I’m inthe process if cobbling together a monk class now. I’ve been playing this game for 31 years now and this the 1st time I’ve ever had a love hate relationship with D&D. Loved 1st edition, Hated 2nd edition, Loved 3.0/3.5 and now I’m not sure…oh well I guess I’ll figure it out
