Pimp My Character update
Pimp My Character #1 Winner
Congratulations to Sean! Sean is the winner of a character sketch awarded at random to one of the readers who suggested ideas for PMC#1.
Pimp My Character #1 Results
The first PMC event/contest was a success so we’ll come back every month – at least for a little while – with a new character to pimp and new prizes to win.
Pimp My Character is a community project:
- Someone emails me a character concept in 30 words or less.
- Everyone suggests ways to make this concept awesome, and how to make it work in a party.
- Dungeon Mastering commissions a sketch for the character.
- If enough readers participate, Dungeon Mastering also commissions a character sketch for one lucky reader who chipped in some ideas.
You can also read the initial PMC community project announcement.
Overview of the creation guide
The guys from AvatarArt work from a creation guide that include a lot more information that the four lines below but it gives you a good idea of how they work. (They are the masterminds behind the Dungeon Mastering’s Expy-The-Red-Dragon Banner, so I obviously like their work)
Here’s a few details found in the recent pimped character’s creation guide:
Inspiration: Dick Turpin, Errol Flynn, James Bond etc.
Gender: Male, but can pass for female at a pinch
Profession: Illusion-using Rogue
Build/Muscle: Muscular but lithe, speed not muscle
If you buy a sketch from AvatarArt – or win one through our monthly Pimp My Character contest – you’ll get an original sketch and you get to make 4 rounds of requests for change. I can tell you they nailed it when I submitted my banner concept.
The D&D Character Bank
The PMC concepts and sketches will soon be available in a character bank. For now here’s the first “pimped” character:
