Get Published! Project Follow Up and Holiday Gift

Written by Expy - Published on December 21, 2010

About a year ago we started a project called “Get published! A community project“. Unfortunately we didn’t get the number of submissions we were hoping for to complete the project. However as a holiday gift, one of the authors who submitted their work has graciously decided to make his story free to the DungeonMastering.com community. His submission was actually one of our favorites.

The author and the DMing crew would love to see everyone posting comments below on the following:

  • How did you use the story in your game?
  • What would you add for crunch and D&D mechanics sections?
  • Any other contributions you feel would be helpful for the community.

You can download the story titled “At the Request of Her Lady” by clicking here.

Happy Holidays from Expy and the DMing crew!

The story was provided by Ross P. Davis. Ross is a computer programmer, systems administrator, and bioinformatician who loves writing in his spare time. He has contributed several articles to the geek humor site BBSpot.com and maintains a blog called Théoden’s Coding Tips at molecularbear.com. In the D&D world, Ross plays a female half-orc rogue named Ammonia Pük; because really, what man hasn’t fantasized about being a woman of orcish descent?

Meet Expy The Red Dragon

Expy is the mascot for DungeonMastering.com and the real mastermind behind Expy Games. He likes to hoard treasure, terrorize neighbors, burn down villages, and tell white dragon jokes..

No matter how fearful the legends claim dragons are, they always end up being defeated in 5 rounds by adventuring parties they encounter. That’s what dragons are – experience points for the heroes in your Dungeons & Dragon party. And this mascot is no different, hence the name Expy.

That’s too bad. I didn’t hear about the contest until long after the submission deadline.

Had I known of the contest and the need for more submissions I would have written one.

  2. Nathan says:

Did you hear that Jack?! Ammonia called your lute ‘prissy’. Your elven heritage should be doubly offended.

  3. Jack Quick says:

These slanderous comments need to stop! There is not a drop of elf blood in me. Also I have a cittern, a veritable fascist killing machine (figuratively speaking; no bloodshed please), and not prissy by any estimation.

  4. Jacob Gearhart says:

this contest should totally come back again some day! I know of more than a few DM’s that would love to submit!

  5. BrianJH1969 says:

That was a GOOD little story and it needs some work in spots and needs to be re written several times and polished up a little and it would be publishable but in its current form it sadly lacking something.

  6. Tam of Blackmoor says:

Hey whats wrong with Elven blood? After all I Tammoria am half Drow and Half Human, so don’t be ashamed of your Elven Jack Quick, be proud and hold your head high.
