Whenever she game mastered the characters were given a "ring of reincarnation" that, when the character died, automatically reincarnate the characters into whatever came up on the random encounter table in the 1st ed dmg for the terrain/area they were in at the time. The rest of the party could tell it was them because the reincarnated character would still be wearing the ring... "Ok, so my halfling sneaks into the cave to get a look at the dragon and see if it is wearing any jewelry; It might be the fighter..." This was actually a very popular activity for my mom’s gaming group.
